Why is it that one incoming government after the next promises to legitimise beavers, which would be a hugely popular move, only to backtrack furiously when it comes to the crunch?
Thorough article full of accuracies. Shame the labour government feels honour bound to not follow through what the conservatives promised. This should be above party politics.
I can't believe this government. As a Labour (or Green in locals) voter, I'm shocked at Labour's response to beavers, and their equally-incomprehensible response to the Climate and Nature bill proposal. Is this just pettiness, because the Tories were in favour of at least the first?

Excellent article. Beavers are just the warm-up act; lynx and wolves will be the main attraction!
It’s working in Scotland. Perhaps the Westminster government could look north and see what’s happening instead of looking back at the Tories.

Thank you for writing about it.
Time to educate the public on the great value that beavers and their dams bring. That should push DEFRA in the right direction.
